the floor and walls have been tiled and Chris has connected up the electrics. today the plumbing is being completed and the dishwasher engineer is dropping in to confirm we are ready for delivery on Monday. Confirmation has been received that the kitchen units from Magnet arrive Tuesday and the magnificent Falcon range with massive gas hob will be delivered on Wednesday. Next week we shall be a little busy!!!
the idea was to continue our relationship with our friends in Ghimbav, Romania. We have hosted the pastor, family and friends in Battle, and many of us have been out to see them over many years. We have a keen interest in their church and the many projects in which they are involved – including their PreSchool. Since we have our own building project at home in Battle we are able to continue to help replace the roof on the church in Ghimbav. A team from Battle Baptist Church flew out for the week with both expertise and muscle to get the job done! Kelly is staying on for a placement at the PreSchool and Keith & Laurel were visiting some of the folk involved in the other work of the church in the community.
You will see from the second slideshow that the job was completed in six days!! On Friday 11th May the team went out to see if they could find any bears before returning back to England at the weekend. Good job done!
Here is the Baptist Times pdf file including news from the Baptist Conference last weekend which you may find interesting.
What a great service we had this morning! All about “You are the potter, I am the clay”. Lovely to welcome four new members to the church – and since we only have one service today there is time to enjoy the rest of the day doing something different!
The newsletter for last weekend is on the “download documents” page.
The new rota for those who enable our four congregations to function during May is on the Download Document page.
We receive information from the South Eastern Baptist Association on a regular basis. I thought that we could put a pdf file of the latest newsletter on our download documents page.
the fruit cake was made by Caroline. Although we only had one candle it was a very large one! After counting down it was blown out by a very young child to the accompaniament of “Happy Birthday Caterpillar”.
Kelly (our PreSchool lead) is seen below with a selection of children who attended Caterpillar in the past.
As a part of the event we were entertained by a drama sketch which illustrated the Bible story of the lost sheep in a most amusing way!
the full audited accounts for last year are available in the office for any who wish to see them.
Members were also updated on progress with the new kitchen and toilets together with the refurbishment of the enlarged Manna house. Decisions with regard to the start date for Stage 2 (the new Prayer Room) will be made shortly.
