Deacons are appointed for a one year term and:

are regular at meetings for worship and prayer ;have demonstrated a willingness to serve ;will be committed to implementing the 2020 Vision ;can manage finances ; will notice and help others with practical needs ;show initiative, yet work within guidelines ; will be hospitable and known across the whole congregation ;look after the day to day running of our church buildings ;take all responsibilities for the maintenance of the building and fabric, as well as health and safety issues; ensure that the buildings are well maintained and safe and that the buildings are attractive and well equipped to provide spiritual and recreational development for their users

A changing role for deacons

 Deacons continue to:

  • help oversee the use & maintenance of church buildings, finances & other resources;

  • assure that the church has sufficient policies & practices in place to meet legislative requirements (eg: with health & safety, & employment law)

  • provide support to the elders & house group leaders with practical pastoral care;

  • help to organise & deliver church congregations & events;

  • be actively involved in special projects at home & overseas.

However, this can be achieved by deacons working together with elders in building the Kingdom of God, meeting only when necessary, and  operating in a more productive and rewarding way in order to help balance family, work and church responsibilities.

We appoint church members to serve as “job specific” deacons on the following groups ~
