"God isn't going to ask us how He created the world, but is going to ask us what we did with what He created"  (Rich Cizik, US National Association of Evangelicals)

The Creation Challenge site is a joint web site of the Baptist, the Methodist and the URC church. It deals with a wide range of environmental issues. click on the link to the left to explore further!

What are we all doing here at Battle Baptist Church ?

The first challenge is to reduce our use of the photocopier and to use less paper. We do recycle and  re-use as much paper as possible - buying recycled and chlorine free paper as often as possible.

All plastic, glass and tins used in our kitchen are separated and one of our lovely members takes them away to recycle them as we are commercial premises and this refuse is not collected separately  by the Council.

We recently had extra insulation added to the chapel roof to reduce heating bills.

A new condensing boiler replaced the old boiler in the Manna House - much more efficient.

Why not walk to church? In our plans for extending our premises we will, in line with Council Planning Policy, be reducing our car parking - but increase the space to park bycycles!

Turn off lights (and computers, TV's etc) when not using them. The standby button is no help!!

Christians have said that environmental issues are important to life and faith because:

"There will be no planet left otherwise."  Hazel

"God made the world for all creation to enjoy. How can we, as Christians, not be involved in looking after it?"    Peter

"Caring for creation is part of my stewardship of God's resources."    Christine

"We are called as Christians to be stewards of His creation and ensure its resources are available to all and for the future. And also to offer praise for all that God provides for us."    Howard

"They represent one of the most important challenges facing humankind now.
- God created the environment and we are its stewards."
   Philip
