Astrology is listed in the dictionary as one of the occult practices, even though many Christians do not include it as one of the evils the Lord prohibits. But the word of God is clear, Isaiah reprimanded Israel for turning to sorcerers and astrologers.

Isaiah ch.47 v 12 - 15

Astrology participates in the sin of divination, the practice of peering into the future or the unknown. It is Satan's copy of the gifts of the Spirit. God does not always want us to know everything, but he does know when to hide knowledge and when to reveal it.

John ch.16 v 12 - “I have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.”

Everyone wants to know what is coming, so as to prepare for it. To use our minds to try to project what is probable is not divination, but using the God-given wisdom that he has given us.

When we attempt to find security through illicitly gained knowledge, that is divination. Behind this sin, is a fear and lack of trust in God. We try these other things when we can no longer rely in faith on the Lord’s guidance.

Fortune tellers, palm-readers and tea-leaf readers are all diviners - forbidden by the word of God. Deuteronomy ch.18 v10.

In past years many folk have quit jobs they should have kept, moved from homes that they should have stayed in, some have left wives and families, unaware that they were being governed not by the Holy Spirit, but by spirits of divination.
